So I did go for a run Tuesday like I planned. Lo and behold, when I got there, the girl's basketball teams were practicing in their jerseys. I thought, that's odd. Right before I actually started running, music started playing really loud. I thought, something's going on. Parent's start showing up and it turns out the jv and varsity teams are having a scrimage. Now, here's the setup there. The track is on a second floor above the court. There are bleachers on the bottom and some on the second floor too, but they were all tucked away. So the parents just lean over the railing on the track and watch from there. Which means that I was running around the parents watching their kids for 45 minutes. :) I coulda sworn for the first 30 at least I was getting looks everytime I ran around. But I'm one of those people who will assume everyone's watching me, even if no one is. I knew one of the parents, and he gave me a high-five as I ran around. The one good thing that came from my audience was I didn't want to stop for a break and then start up again. I felt like the minute I stopped, they'd be glad. Then if I started running again, they'd groan and roll their eyes. ;) Probably not true, but still. So instead of taking a lap to walk halfway through, I ran the whole 45 minutes. And I did fine. So that was good for me to experience. I can still run that long without needing a break. It took me forever to get to that point last summer when I first started running. I don't think I run as fast as I used to, but my endurance is there, which makes me feel good.
I went and played volleyball last night too, as one of my scheduled nights for exercise. It was tons of fun. (Thanks Christy!) Even though we lost a few games in a row, I was laughing and had a blast. Having a night of fun and silly exercise is a great mix-it-up.
I'm proud of myself for still planning and getting some exercise, but I know I'm not making tons of progress on the scale. I'm so excited for spring (I know, I know, winter's barely started. Don't remind me.) when there's more sunlight at night and I can run in the evenings. It will be so awesome! Anyway, I'll just have to keep it up til then.
